Around 0.3 miles past the campground we ran into another junction. Rincon peak is 3.2 miles from here on the left split. Taking the right branch, it's 7.7 miles to the Rincon creek trailhead. Hiking from that trailhead would have added at least 6 miles to the roundtrip distance and would have made it nearly impossible to finish before dark.
