a close-up of the Coulter Globemallow (at least that's what we've deduced with what appears to be spreading and lower growing Globemallow; altho the description form SW Desert Flora isn't vey distinguishable.

The similar Emory's Globemallow (Sphaeralcea emoryi) has thickened, elongated, densely hairy, grayish green leaves, Fendler's Globemallow (Sphaeralcea fendleri) has longer, narrower, unruffled leaves and flowers with uncupped petals, and Caliche Globemallow (Sphaeralcea laxa) has flowers with dark maroon anthers and unruffled leaves.
Maybe someone knows the differences.

Growth Form: Forb/herb, subshrub; stems slender, few long soft hairs, stems sprawling to erect.
Leaves: Green, gray-green; leaves variable triangular, cordate, 3 or more lobes, margins rounded and coarsely toothed.

Growth Form: Forb/herb, subshrub; growth shrubby, herbage woolly (canescent), stems erect and or sprawling.
Leaves: Green, yellow-green; leaf shape variable, 3 lobed, lobes weak or absent, cordate, margins wavy, scalloped (crenate).
