Canola field. Production 106.26 million pounds in Montana. Did You Know? Although Montana is the 3rd largest producer of canola in the United States, it represents less than 5% of canola grown in the nation. The word canola is a combination of Canada and oil.

LL Teddy Bear Fence, Dupuyer. The Memorial of Children Bear Doll Fence, also known as the Teddy Bear Fence, is a unique and touching attraction located along US-89 in Dupuyer, MT. It consists of a fence covered in stuffed animals, including teddy bears and other stuffed toys which have been left as a tribute to children who have passed away. The tradition of leaving stuffed animals at the site began in the 1990s when a local rancher found a lost teddy bear on his property and placed it on his fence. Over time more and more people began leaving their own stuffed animals at the site and the fence became a memorial to children who have died.

However, this is the original story I heard: May 31, 2017
Road ecology blog: Multi-functional underpass (water, wildlife) and short section of wildlife fencing, US Hwy 89, near Dupuyer, Montana. Locals told me a grizzly bear (Ursus arctos) was seen crossing the road at or near one of the two fence ends. The fence only extends about 100 meters or so in each travel direction. Locals took that as an indication that the fences and underpass were not functioning and started to make fun of the underpass by attaching stuffed teddy bears to the fence.

LR There were a few oil rigs north of Choteau.
