The first live tree I found from last summer's planting. The cover was sitting raised 6 inches off the ground, due to rocky soil, and I couldn't get it back in more than a few inches after I took it off. This area is right on the ridge close to the gate. I placed these rocks to act as "mulch", and some logs to the SW to help protect it from wind, but this guy will have an up hill battle with fierce drying spring wind and the deer that eat everything out there. Maybe I visit in 10 years and find a very wind blown tree that is 5 or 6 feet tall?
