Goat Mountain on left and Otokomi on the right. Obviously, you can see them much better without the trees blocking the view.
Otokomi Mountain is named for George Bird Grinnell's part-Blackfoot hunting partner named Otokomi which means "yellowfish'.
FYI Goat Mountain is an often overlooked climb (~4,000' vertical gain,~4.5 mi roundtrip) that offers rewarding views without the need for exposed climbing. It can be done in 5 – 6 hours at a steady pace and enjoyed by climbers of various abilities at a more relaxed pace.
Like other mountains in Glacier National Park, it is composed of sedimentary rock laid down during the Precambrian to Jurassic periods. Formed in shallow seas, this sedimentary rock was initially uplifted beginning 170 million years ago when the Lewis Overthrust fault pushed an enormous slab of precambrian rocks 3 mi thick, 50 miles wide and 160 miles long over younger rock of the cretaceous period.
