| no partners | | I'm planning on yo-yoing the BCT starting tomorrow and decided to do a bit of trail maintenance on the southern most part of the trail. It's basically only used by burros and coyotes these days and without them the trail would be completely overgrown.
I took a pair of loppers and some gloves with me and spent a bunch of time making the trail passable. I actually don't know if this really is the trail, but I tracked it with the GPSr a couple of years ago and then I did find a trail of old flagging and some trees and bushes and such that were cut along the path, so I think it is. There are no trail markers at all though. I have compared my track to that on the BCT Coalition's web site and it is very similar.
I start at a gate just west of mile 28 of the Carefree Hwy. Actually, there is a wildlife passage through the fence maybe 30 yards east of the gate (the top wire is removed and a plastic wrapper is covering the second wire), then walk east along a dirt road until I reach the place to head north, where the BCT starts. |
