| no partners | | On the way home from Zion and Bryce NPs, I stopped by the North Rim thinking I may get in a quick peak bag. Not. I wasn't really prepared for Deva: no drawn route, no description, etc.. so I was just winging it. Starting from Vista Encantada, I walked Komo Point Road to Obi Point and then dropped off the rim at Obi. Komo Pt road is mostly easy to follow except where it crosses 3 or 4 large burned areas. Most of the trees have fallen, covering the road and making travel tedious. The Kaibab layer below Obi Point is broken down so it was an easy scramble down to the top of the Coconino. On top of the Coconino I was stopped and couldn't see any workable route down. When I got home and read a description on getting to Deva, it turned out I was supposed to follow the drainage to the east of Ariel Point all the way down to the Hermit. I kind of wish I didn't try this because I'd like to give Deva another shot from the rim but I really don't want to walk Komo Point Road again. It was not what I consider enjoyable. |
