Did the short interpretive loop trail at the beginning before following the normal loop clockwise. Most junctions are signed, but not all so we had one wrong turn but quickly realized our mistake. Good views of Mt. Rainier from Debbie's View although it was a little hazy and cloudy. Might be better to do this loop counter clockwise so you can get the views in the late afternoon sun which would be better for pictures. No snow at the start and then a dusting as we got higher. Pretty much snow covered from Debbie's View area on. No views at the summit (too bad you can't climb the microwave towers for really nice 360 degree views) but snow covered trees, it was like walking in a winter wonderland. Great winter hike in Seattle. Pizza and beer afterwards was just the icing on the cake! |
