Another beautiful fall day. The road to the trailhead was in pretty good shape. Lots of people already there when we rolled in around 9AM. Probably double the cars when we left. Mowich lake was crystal clear and smooth when we arrived so it offered perfect reflection of the surrounding peaks. You won't get any solitude on this hike, at least not on a sunny weekend day. On the one hand it was great to see so many people out enjoying the trail. On the other hand, it would be great if those that did come out would follow better trail etiquette. Dogs (not allowed on National Park trails), loud music and loud people took a little bit from the experience. Maybe I'm just old school. Overall it was good day. Views from the lookout are a great reward for a relatively short hike. Definitely recommend parking at the lot near Mowich camp and taking the lakeshore trail before hooking up with the main trail. It's an easy section and you get close-up views of the lake.

Another beautiful September weekend! Was a little worried leaving Seattle this morning under clouds and fog but just past Bonney Lake the sun came out along with blue skies. The road up until the offroad vehicle park just outside the park boundary is in great condition. Once inside the park the road gets rougher but it's still not too bad. One couple at the top when I got there and saw lots of people on my way down. Saw lots of bear scat near Eunice Lake but no bears. By the look of it they are enjoying the berries. Rangers were in the lot ticketing cars that didn't have a pass --- I was lucky as I had my national parks pass but it was with me in my wallet. The ranger I spoke with said I'm supposed to hang it up or write down the number on one of the pay envelopes if I don't want to leave it in my car. Mowich Lake is quite nice, there were some great reflections, it was just hard to find a spot to get a good shot with my camera.
