Carolyn and I did this loop of the North Forks trail, to the Swampy Lakes Trail to the Bridge Creek Trail. It was a chilly 39 degrees when we started at 8:30 and 60 degrees when we finished. the North Forks Trail is a picture post card trail with lots of water falls and creek crossings. It's a nice steady climb. Coming back on the Swamp Creek Trail we soon had to cross an unbridged stream relying on fallen logs that were quite slippery. The stream was only knee deep and not moving very fast so it wasn't dangerous but we just didn't want to go feet wet. Carolyn scampered across the logs at the trail while I elected to follow the engineers tape about 50 yards upstream there some larger logs crossed the stream. Neither of us ad any issues. On the way down we got pretty wet from the water logged pine branches closing in on the narrow trail. The 7.4 mile loop came in at 2 hours and 50 minutes with 1,175 feet of AEG.

This is also called the North Forks Trail to Happy Valley on local tail maps. An out and back with 7.2 miles and 1,250 feet AEG in 2 hours and 50 minutes. The trail got really crowded on the way down.

It doesn't get much better than this one! TH is about 10 miles from Bend, OR and 1/4 mile into the hike is the 97 foot Tumalo Falls. The double to single track trail takes you up gently along Tumalo Creek as you pass Double Falls and Upper Falls along with about a dozen other no name falls. The trail starts at about 5000 feet and takes you to about 6000. Many great fews of the rushing creek and a few log crossings. If you are in the area this hike is highly recommended. There are a few trails off this loop if you are interested in doing a longer hike.
