| partners | | After bagging Huethawali in the morning, we decided on the short and easy trip to Fossil. After driving out to Havasupai Point, we drove back a short distance before parking and heading toward the mountain.
We stayed right on the ridge, which climbs up and down more than you think, but offers continual stunning views down Serpentine Canyon to the river, with the Grand Scenic Divide to the west.
It took about 35 minutes to get to the summit, at about .85 miles. We took a short break up top, and spent more time on the way down looking for and admiring the fossil remains we found. This mountain is covered in them!
This part of the park is not an easy place to get to, and this hike is certainly not worth the effort to come out here on it's own, but if you're out here anyway, I definitely recommend taking the time to make this short trip! |
