Oh, to live on Fossil Mountain
With the disciples and their colored t-shirts,
You can't be under 40 on Fossil Mountain
Though you're wishing that you were
Though you're wishing that you were

It's not noisy at the saddle
but all your friends aren't there
and the fragrance of fresh flowers
and other stuff permeates thru the air.

There's a walrus on the mountain,
he will give you a weather report,
He's over 40 and he's an Uncle,
who likes to have tickle fights.

Oh, to live on Fossil Mountain
With a Squatter who knows how to lead,
he leads it at the University.
He doesn't drink but he does likes wafers
He like his brats with yellow mustard
and wrapped in delicate flowing white robes.

Oh, to live on Fossil Mountain
With the brachipods and the colored sponges,
You'll see a butt fossil on Fossil Mountain
along with some pretty sweet views
Don't leave there too soon,
Don't leave there too soon.

And now its time to say goodbye
'Cause its getting a little to long.
Its kinda a funny because I'm not
a big old Neil Diamond fan.

Twisted Lyrics by Bob inspired by a song I was singing on Fossil Mountail

Credit goes to Neil Young....song... Sugar Mountain

Another fun hike with Chums and Squatter.

Side trip (from Mt. Heuthawali) with BobP. and Uncle Chumley. Pretty good views and (if I knew anything about fossils) would be a great place to explore for old stuff.

Chums truck is awesome! Not sure how a caddy would do on this road.

And for some crazy reason, BobP was 10 minutes late to summit. I think he was busy squeezing out some lyrics to a new song...

After bagging Huethawali in the morning, we decided on the short and easy trip to Fossil. After driving out to Havasupai Point, we drove back a short distance before parking and heading toward the mountain.

We stayed right on the ridge, which climbs up and down more than you think, but offers continual stunning views down Serpentine Canyon to the river, with the Grand Scenic Divide to the west.

It took about 35 minutes to get to the summit, at about .85 miles. We took a short break up top, and spent more time on the way down looking for and admiring the fossil remains we found. This mountain is covered in them!

This part of the park is not an easy place to get to, and this hike is certainly not worth the effort to come out here on it's own, but if you're out here anyway, I definitely recommend taking the time to make this short trip!
