I camped at Fales Flat for five days on this most recent trip to the southern Bitterroots. The primitive campground is an excellent location for knocking out a series of quality hikes, all within short drives on good roads from the campground.

We did not make it to Sheephead Creek on this hike, but we did enjoy yet another nice morning stroll on quality trail in a remote area. Some deadfall as one might expect, but nothing overly impeding. It does seem like this trail gets semi regular maintenance, formally or informally and I suspect by late or mid summer trail conditions may get better, as far as deadfall goes. Good tread overall and a pleasant stroll along the creek. The first ford is known to be tricky early in the season, but no issues for me, or Dot.
