....well...that was fun!!

Again with the bushwhacker special

Locust!

Locust!

Locust!?!!?

Those aren't Aspen we said...oh good grief...

Parked at Greenland Lake, walked a quarter mile north, headed east, down through the Kaibab and Toroweap then crawled and creeped and slipped and slid down a steep muddy slope

Luckily the first 15-20 minutes of slope in the burned area and made for even slicker and steeper traversing through the Kaibab.

What more could a girl ask for? This was a great Saturday date-hike with my guy!

Two "sketchy" parts...well they were extra steep and extra muddy and had no friendly trees to hold on to...made me pause and offer up a few choice expletives.

Jamie coaxed me onward and downward through more aspen and more locust and more mud with the promise of bagging another summit.

There is a very faint muddy steep "path" in the gulley but it's hard to stick to on the descent! Much easier to follow on the way back up to the rim.

Once we broke the Coconino gulley from hell we contoured east and along the Hermit until the bushes broke and our destination was in direct view.

This was the easiest part of the trip and the shale was such a gorgeous red that all was forgotten...for now.

We shimmied the hilly dunes and made our way to the top, the South face was the easiest ascent.

The summit is a mere 2-3feet wide and the true summit is on the east side of he solitary cliff rose that dominates the top.
The cairn with the old summit log is on the east side and contained an old coffee can full of water...and rotting paper and an old Mickey's bottle cap and a pencil...

The only date we could readily make out was either 2007 or 2008 from a Bob Ward? and a Jace?

The new register was place in 2015 and was tucked safely in the branches of the cliffose...

I happily shimmied beneath the cliffrose to rightfully place the new register inside the old coffee can upsidedown in the cairn to prevent further water damage.

This is a quite lovely little butte and is my 20th Grand Canyon summit.

Miserable approach, the most catclaw I have ever encountered in my life. Swimming in it with my feet off the ground at times.
