| no partners | | This was the second of two hikes on Friday. The rain that had been drenching me earlier seemed to have dissipated enough that I thought I could get this short hike in. Trail was located next to a fire station with minimal, but free parking. The trail starts behind the buildings. Self guided nature walk with about 10 signs talking about the vegetation and the surrounding area. Easy trail to do. Took me past an old mine, a "Penny Plantation" (a small grove of pine trees that had been planted back in the 1950's. Sadly, it looks as if a good portion of them have died recently (bark beetle?) and the grove had lost some its luster.), and a memorial for firefighters. I was able to do the hike without getting wet and it was nice to finish at least one trail that day.
A little confused. There are two El Cariso Nature Trails shown on HAZ. I have a feeling that they are redundant. I went with this description since it had a write up and gps route that matched mine. |
