i have always wanted to go to the Channel Islands National Park and we finally did! we did 2 day trips out of ventura. each requires a roughly 75-90 minute ride in a catamaran across the Santa Barbara Channel as the islands sit somewhere in the neighborhood of 15-20 miles off the coast in the pacific ocean. on our first day trip out there we saw humpback whales and innumerable dolphin both heading out in the morning and coming back in the afternoon! :y:

Anacapa island is very small and home the thousands of birds. the views are sensational, and Inspiration Point in particular, rivals just about anything I have ever seen. we picnicked at that spot and took in the whole island at our leisure. found a couple of overlook spots where we could look straight down at tiny little isolated beaches lined with barking California Sea Lions :)

totally awesome day. i want to come back here in the spring when the whole small island is covered in flowers
