This area has several names. One is "Heart of the Mojave." Another is Sacramento Mountains. Bigelow Cholla Garden Wilderness was my goal, and I include it here as "linked" because I almost got there. The road I was on dead-ended. There are no "trails" however, in the Bigelow Cholla Garden Wilderness.

I think I need to buy a Jeep. I walked a road I would basically have driven so I could begin my hike further away from I-40.

On the other hand, I enjoyed myself. Trying out a pair of new/old Raichle boots. They fit well, but my feet still burned and hurt after 3 miles. I stopped and took a rest and some Ibuprofen. I took off the boots and removed inserts I had placed under the tongues. The rest of the hike was far less painful.

I saw no one. I suppose people mostly go out there to go four wheeling on weekends. There are a lot of roads.
