It had been a few years since I’d visited, I was lucky someone told me you now need car parking reservations for the national monument.
Got a reservation for 10:00 a.m. and since it was drizzling I was pleasantly surprised that the place was mostly deserted. Because the trees are so thick the canopy actually keeps you pretty dry while you’re hiking around so it was a great day to hike there and not encounter others. I love how close this place is to the city yet it’s utter silence inside when you’re hiking through the trees. On my last trip I did the dipsea trail so this time I did a big loop.
Highly recommend if you’re visiting the Bay Area. It’s so close that it’s really a shame if you don’t make it over here. The coastal redwoods are beautiful and the plant life is just stunning. |
