Family hike. Lots of rangers/volunteers around to answer questions, including: 1) the boat wreckage has been there for a year; no one can remove it easily, but they are starting to have an organized effort to remove pieces, and 2) the roof, level with the ground, that your not supposed to walk on, was for a searchlight associated with the world war era defense equipment.

We were in San Diego for a weekend getaway and the kids really wanted to go back here and see what they could see in the pools. Last time we were here, last summer, we saw numerous crabs and a few small fish. This time, however, we only managed to see a single crab and no fish. The fact that we saw 3 separate sharks a few hundred yards from us the day before must have used up all of our wildlife sighting luck.

Parked at the south TH, looked to be shorter if you start from the north TH, although it's pretty short no matter what. Pretty cool area, although we went at high tide so we couldn't go down into the tide pools. It would be wise to call ahead to ask when the best time of day to see the pools would be before planning a visit.

Took the wife to San Diego - she requested a "trip home". She wanted to go home "one last time" in case her illness takes a turn for the worse. :( The doctors think it is Crohn's though, so I thought she was overreacting. Anyway, since the GG trip kinda went sideways and she started feeling better after I got home, we headed out for San Diego. This was one of her favorite locations growing up as a kid. The pools have been hit really hard, though, from when she was young.
