| no partners | | Trail Canyon Trail has seen some recent volunteer attention, and it really is in good shape. Surprising to see few cars in the lot when we arrived at 9:30, but I'll take it. We had nice full packs for training and my companion was trying out some new boots, so we weren't exactly setting a blistering pace, but somehow managed to pass a few folks anyway. It was relaxing to hike along mostly in solitude on a trail that is usually pretty busy. Unfortunately, we had a big list of other things to accomplish today, so just ate lunch at Cave Spring and then turned around.
On the way back down, we saw a bright-eyed young "hiker," approximately 5 months old. Her parents looked a little nervous, but she was just smiling away and seemed to be really enjoying some time in the great outdoors. Start 'em young!
We were too late for the leaves, but the wind did its best to convince us it was not summer anymore The air was crisp and the wind was almost cold, providing nice clear views of the peaks. |

Autumn Foliage Observation None The leaves have fallen. There was a slight autumn smell of rotting leaves in the air, though. |
