Too bad I'm sure my photos will turn out crappy because of the rain. 2 young ladies almost got washed away by a huge wave even though they were well away from the shoreline, but I think all they lost was their sandwiches. Hiked up to the old gun emplacement, and noticed that my right shoe's upper was separating from the lower. Great. Scratch the plan to hike up the ridge to the south, back down, then up the ridge on the north and back to the TH. Did get new hiking shoes @ the REI in Corte Madera so the day wasn't a total loss. Swankiest mall I've ever seen. Also found a tick on my leg for the first time, but I got it before it sunk its fangs into me. Saw a rabid bobcat. The poor cat was hanging out on the trail just looking at some people coming the other way when I got there. Then it just lazily wandered through the tall grass next to the trail. I got to within 15 feet of it, and it didn't even acknowledge that I was there. It was really skinny. If I had a gun, and wasn't in a National Recreation Area (Golden Gate) I would've done it a favor. |
