| no partners | | Had to hike with the Valley Fire smoke- between that and the heat wave it was a bit difficult- even for this AZ hiker. Lovely hike though! I highly suggest the longer route on Big Rock. First time I've ever hiked in San Diego! |

| no partners | | Decided to make my first approach of Cowles (which I am told is the highest point in the city of San Diego) from less frequented and shadier north side, starting near park on Mesa Drive. My gf needed frequent stops, to which the adequate shade was of help. Once we hit the main track the trailed widened and was a little slick. The approach to the top was steep, with rewarding views in all directions. We took the same wide road down and had to carefully decend. We hit another trail to Mesa Road and eventually hit even road.
