| no partners | | Big steep drop down to the North Fork of the American River on excellent, shady trail. A suspension bridge crosses the river and the trail continues upstream for 5+ miles, contouring above the river with occasional access down to the water. Fair amount of poison oak. I'll need to return to finish the section along the river.
To trailhead: take Alta Exit 146, turn R then a quick L on Casa Loma Rd, follow the pavement for 2.7 miles then turn R over double RR tracks and follow the dirt road 0.8 more miles to the trailhead with parking for 4-5 vehicles and a pit toilet. |
