Originally I planned on being in Valentine, Texas for Valentine's Day, but changed plans when I found out a friend was going to be camping at Blair Valley in Anza-Borrego State Park. With this heat wave I figured it wouldn't be too cold at night over there. Wrong! I didn't take into consideration the 2500 foot elevation (making it like Tucson). I didn't have a warm enough bag for the 33 degree overnight low, so little sleep was had. What was so weird is that this was like the coldest spot in the whole area. I kept checking Weather Underground during the night for temperature reports and with the exception of nearby Shelter Valley, all other places were in the high 40s to low 50s! :o Even Julian up on the mountain was around 55 degrees. Ah, the joys of micro climates.

I had planned on staying a second night, as my friend was going to do some night photography up at the Marshal South home site on Ghost Mountain (Yaquitepec), but decided I didn't want to freeze again and left Sunday. Drove to Gila Bend and spent the night there, finishing the drive home Monday morning.
