Lot’s of ATV, Quads, off-road, motorcycles until about 5:30 pm as there is a rental and tour company a couple miles before camp spot. Pretty quiet in the evening. Saturday we walked up the road and found a hiking trail we took. It looped around back toward our campsite and we bushwhacked down some steep terrain and downed trees from a fire that appeared to have occurred 20-30 years ago. We picked up some new gear we were testing out and I made black out curtains for the front of the cab which opened up the space inside. The kids are getting big enough that they don’t fit in their old space and one will be sleeping in a hammock up front once it shows up. The trail up to the continental divide is rated as moderate on the Breck side (FR355), but is doable in a passenger vehicle on the other side. It basically had a creek running down it for a majority of the drive up. It was steeper than expected and much more rutted out. Apparently a tough winter and spring. I was reading reports of people turning around short of the top from 1 month ago. No issues going up just took my time and drove up in Low. Apparently even taking it easy I traumatized my family who said they did not enjoy the trip up. Views were great up top and we stopped by an old ruined cabin along the road. Checked out the camping along French Creek on the way down. Nice weekend trip. |
