| no partners | | Was looking for some low elevation fun during a short CO trip, so we headed down to Glenwood from Carbondale. The original plan was to do Grizzly Gulch, but it turns out that has been closed due to the fire a year or two back. So we were only able to hike in a quarter mile or so, then we headed back down the 70 to the next canyon, No Name.
Limited parking here, but it was pretty. Road to the water facility, then snow-covered single track after that. It had been getting some use, so the route wasn't hard to follow. Other than a creek crossing over an ice-covered log, there weren't really any obstacles until a few miles in, when we started seeing a lot of deadfall and no more fresh tracks. At this point we decided going further would not be worth the effort, and turned back.
Saw a handful of other people on the trail. Pleasant little snow hike, and a solid enough backup option. |
