An amazing dolomite canyon that we scrambled up until we encountered a large chockstone we couldn't pass without gear. It was a nice way to end our Death Valley adventures before our drive home. I was pretty excited to see rain falling in Death Valley as we left. Especially since Death Valley averages two inches of rain a year!

There was surprisingly quite the crowd in Death Valley for new year's, so we decided to head for this lesser-known canyon to avoid the crowds at Mosaic. Pretty quickly, we discovered we needed to be more prepared for climbing than we were to continue up the main canyon. So, instead, we selected a very steep side canyon to scramble up. This lead to some nice views back down toward the Mesquite Sand Dunes. Progress was very slow with lots of rotten rock that crumbled in your hand. We could have continued to who knows where, but set a turn around time to make it to Badwater for a ranger hike and history talk.

On the way out, we encountered a group carrying little other than crash pads. Sounded like they were going to try their hand at some of the climbs in the canyon.
