Through the hall of petroglyphs, up a tough rock chute, across the ridges, and back down into the wash. This lead to a pretty cool canyon (and a nice shady lunch spot under a boulder), but we were stopped again at the top of a different dry falls.
OK, back up to try a different route down to the main wash. What we picked turned out to be steep and boulder-choked, but passable on rock "stairs" well-worn by flowing water. Now we're getting somewhere. Finally, we made it to the original objective. But, no rest for the wicked, so all this meant was we got to turn around and work our way slowly up an even steeper chute of loose rock to bypass the dry falls again.
A day of much climbing and scrambling. Good day.
Edit: I almost forgot to mention that it was a 2 chuckwalla and 1 rattlesnake hike - excellent! |
