GPS showed that we were walking on water. Most city fountains in Santa Barbara were converted to succulent flower-beds because of this drought.
Then drove toward Santa Barbara on CA-154 and turned to El Camino Cielo that follows the ridge of Santa Ynez mountains towards Knapp's Castle. It's a short hike along unpaved road to the ruins of a mansion built on the ridge side overlooking Santa Ynez Valley in late 1910-s and burnt in 1940. The chimney and parts of walls still stand.
This triplog data accounts for both hikes (0.6 mi RT Cachuma lake, 0.8 mi RT Knapp's Castle). |
