After eating Danish pastries in Solvang we stopped at Bradbury Dam overlook, hiked down to Cachuma Lake and realized how serious the drought was as there was only water at the bottom of the lake. GPS showed that we were walking on water. Most city fountains in Santa Barbara were converted to succulent flower-beds because of this drought.

Then drove toward Santa Barbara on CA-154 and turned to El Camino Cielo that follows the ridge of Santa Ynez mountains towards Knapp's Castle. It's a short hike along unpaved road to the ruins of a mansion built on the ridge side overlooking Santa Ynez Valley in late 1910-s and burnt in 1940. The chimney and parts of walls still stand.

This triplog data accounts for both hikes (0.6 mi RT Cachuma lake, 0.8 mi RT Knapp's Castle).
