Lone Peak Trail/Cherry Canyon Logging Trail(Bear Canyon Trail)

This is an epic hike and more of a overnighter to the summit. There is still way too much snow up there to summit only got to like 8250 then went home.

I have done this a few weeks ago when it was cooler and still tons of snow up around 6800ft making this very challenging. So I came back Saturday to check it out and go higher. You start at around 4800ft the first few hundred feet are easy trail. Then you get to the trail-head "Cherry Canyon Trail" (now known as Bear Canyon Trail)at around 5200ft the grind begins. 45 degree angle and tons of switchbacks, watch out for rattlesnakes. This first grind tapers off around 6000ft.

Next grind a few washouts/switchbacks around 6300ft levels out around 6900ft. Take a small break here or something because this next part is just straight up! But then around 7200ft starts a nice shaded wooded level off area and its very rewarding because you are now on the back side of the mountain. You no longer are on the front side/face and the sun scorching you. Another grind around 7600 and then I got to about 8250 and that was it for me. There was still way too much snow too summit and I had to get down back to the city to hit up the bar.

Met a hippie/mountain man with his parents or something on the way down way cool, gave me some heads up about camping up there, which was cool. Look forward to seeing them again. One of my favorite hikes, very challenging and will be back again in a couple weeks hopefully to summit 11,293ft. There was hardly any people out there, major plus...
