| partners | | If this trail hadn't been where it is it would have been fairly unmemorable. But at almost 12,000 feet elevation... It is very exposed to the wind, and I'm talking hurricane force winds sometimes here. The trail is really a set of steps 7 inches up and 3 to 4 feet over 7 inches up etc. With the lack of O2 you'd swear this was longer than it is. Up and back it's just short of a mile. Beautiful (but almost stark) views all the way up and back.
While we were there a teenaged brother and sister thought they would have a race up this climb. Surprisingly the boy made it up at a run. The girl I thought was going to die. Half way up she was bent over trying to stay on her feet, but mostly trying to regain her breath. It was several minutes before she could continue, but at a walk this time. |
