Back from a trip to Germany and Austria, I'll try to post some pictures from an amazing trail in Innsbruck, Austria soon. Now every day is sunny 105+ degrees here in Redding! Good thing I come from Phoenix/Tucson weather. Time to hit all the shady trails, and swimming holes I know around Redding. Mill Creek is a nice, overgrown and shaded trail that crosses the lightly flowing creek several times. Easy to get to, and a quick trek to feel some seclusion in nature--this trail is usually empty of hikers.

A short hike. We planned on following Clear Creek Trail, but there was a fun bridge made out of a 2x4 we decided to cross which led to a vista trail. We hiked up the vista trail which became a nice level trail for a mile or so and provided a view of the creek from higher up. I'm not sure where the vista trail ends, we'll have to find a map with the trail or go back and hike a bit farther to see where we end up!

It's getting very hot in Redding...so I feel at home!

This was a very fun trail along Mill Creek with a nice amount of fall foliage. The trails starts off straight and passes an old stamp mill and abandoned mine. The trail then narrows to closely follow the creek and has a lot of twists, turns, slight ups and downs, and plenty of creek crossings to keep things interesting. I saw 5 toads during my creek crossings (or are they frogs?), and one snake. Although the high in Redding was 99 degrees, this trail was very cool and comfortable. Completely shaded, while following the cold creek to provide a perfect temperature. Overall a great little hike with lots of multicolored leaves to see, which I'll add in a photoset.
