| no partners | | This was my favorite hike of my trip to Tuolumne Meadows. Thunderstorms threatened all afternoon, but I never received anything other than some sprinkles. The hike was much more difficult than the statistics may indicate because of its high elevation. The trail head is at 9,600' and the ultimate destination, Mono Pass, is at 10,600'.
I saw whitebark pines and the associated Clark's nutcracker for the first time so that was cool. It was weird seeing wildflowers after Labor Day, but the crazy huge winter we had in California has apparently thrown the Sierra Nevada's biological calendar out of whack.
Overall, a wonderful way to spend the afternoon. |
