very scenic ascent of a prominent summit. after a big day pervious, this was quite a challenging ascent for me. i planned on going to west sopris initially, but by the time i got to the summit i was sucking fumes big time.

the climb above treeline was very steep, with some loose footing in spots. that being said i enjoyed it immensely. spent a while on the summit. it was very windy on the upper climb, but that died down on the summit and my conditions for the top were great!

saw a handful of people throughout the day and a massive group of turkeys on the way in

Fine hike to the double-summit of Mount Sopris from the Thomas Lakes trailhead. The trail works up the cow-infested lower slopes then into the pines passing the lakes. Above treeline is the usual talus slope hiking along the east ridge to the east summit. The west summit is the exact same elevation at 12,953' about a mile away on easy scree.
