It can be fun to explore obscure / little used trails provided that 1) you're pretty sure the trail existed at some point and 2) you have a GPS route for when things get tricky. Put together a CCW lasso from the Gardner Meadow trailhead near the Highland Lakes taking the PCT south then looping back on three rarely used trails. Depending on the maps and junction markers, the three trails may have been Asa Lakes, Elder Creek, Murray Canyon, Wolf Creek or "To PCT". A fine area with views and lots of flowing creeks around the loop, and the vast majority of trails were easy to follow. Gotta do something about those dang cows though.
