A significantly less pleasant location than Denver, Seattle, Portland, and San Francisco... but there are trails, at least? Runyon Canyon was within jogging distance of where I was staying on West Sunset, so that's where I headed. Started up the West Trail, which starts out as a dirt road, and transitions to steep, stair-steppy single track when you hit the ridge. Some of the local Angelenos were struggling with the exposure on this stretch.
From the top of the West trail, headed up the road to the Mulholland TH, then up to the Runyon summit. Worthwhile enough view. Then headed down a shortcut trail back to the road. East trail was closed due to the fire, so took the road the whole way down. I think I ran my fastest mile in a long time on this descent.
Nothing spectacular about Runyon Park, but nice enough if you need something within walking distance of Hollywoo. |
