| no partners | | While up in Utah for a quick weekend trip, my wife and I decided to hit up an old favorite. As with Arizona’s squaw Peak, Utah renamed this one to avoid the political incorrectness. It is now known as Khyv Peak.
Recently, they completed a major overhaul of the trailhead, which now features an expanded parking area, nice restroom facilities, covered picnic tables, etc.
An unexpected snowstorm Blew in in the morning, so the entire hike on the mountain was accompanied by falling snow. It was beautiful, but totally obscured the summit views.
By the time we were approaching the trailhead on the return, the clouds were lifting and made for some great views.
This one is very popular with the crowds looking for an easily accessible, challenging workout, with great payoffs in scenery! Also, the geology in Rock Canyon is amazing (and is a frequent haunt for rock climbers). |
