Baldy from Paradise Valley off the list and opted for this pleasant and far easier hike, just down the road from where we car camped.
The trail is in terrific shape and its highlights are really the first 1.25 miles, or so until you reach the trail's high point. Great views and wildflowers (we were a little early in the season, but the trail is known for its wildflowers) can all be had from this action packed first mile. After the high point and rock out cropping over looking the Gothic valley, the trail drops considerably. We continued the descent until the 2.5 mile mark and then turned around at the nicely flowing creek. After that, if was the somewhat steep climb and return the way we came.
This is a perfect trail for families, those walking dogs and the less avid hiker who is still seeking big views and great scenery. |
