Was out visiting family in SD and decided to check out Potato Chip Rock and Mt Woodson in Poway CA!
I went on a weekday because I heard it was very busy on weekends; takes up to 30 minutes to get a picture of yourself on "The Rock". Luckily, I didn't have to wait and a nice stranger took my picture! :)
The trail starts along a pretty lake and then goes uphill the rest of the way. Pretty views and you can even see the Pacific Ocean from the top! :)

Great hike without the crowds on a weekday. This trail has pretty much everything you would expect from a San Diego county hike with the addition of the "potato chip" rock.

Began at Poway Park ($5 entry/parking fee). Steady climb nearly the entire ascent. Great time at Potato Chip Rock - makes for fun photos. Easy hike back down. Very busy trail - a lot of people. Fun, but not serene.

up the steep paved eastern route, then down the longer west approach to lake poway. very cool on top with some pines and a huge boulder wonderland. awesome views on this one and perfect weather with a little rain even. very fun hike :D
