| no partners | | participated in AMC trail mintance ans clmb. 11 of us groomed the climbers trail from tom thumb trail head up to the ridgeline west of tom thumb. We planted two signs at junctions to get people to the right crag.
After the trail work, we went to Half and Half wall where we set up four top rpe routes and climbed for a while. Then it was down the mountain and off to the bar for lunch and a cold one.
The climbs were a nice variety ranging from a 5.3 big crack lay back to nice granite slab to a route that is hard to describe. The 5.8 on the west end was about 70 feet and started in a big chiminy which lead to a nice hand/foot jam crack that had a catclaw bush growing in it. Apparently many people have tried to cut it out but it keeps growing back. Once past the catclaw the route was a nice gentle slab that ou could almost walk up. I lso climbed one of the 5.7 slab routes before we headed down.
It was fun climbing with Erik Felsenger who has done a lot of the pioneering and political work for the McDowell range. |
