Day 53. Camped at 964.6 (22.1)
Really enjoyed following Tuolumne Rivet in the morning, the falls are spectacular. Some great views throughout the day. Miller Lake had a nice sandy beach with enough breeze to keep the bugs at bay. I went for a swim. From there I descended to Matterhorn Creek where I took my shoes off to ford it. After that the bugs got bad where I started the steep ascent to Benson Pass  and called it a day.

Day 54. Camped near 987.4 (22.8)
Today was hard. It started going over Benson Pass followed by Seavey pass. The day was filled with steep ups and downs. I'm toast. As I approached Wilma Lake, the bugs got ferocious. I camped a bit beyond Wilma before a wide creek crossing.

Day 55. Camped near 1010.7 (23.3)
The day started by fording that wide creek barefoot. From there I went up yhe Falls Creek valley for many miles. After yesterday, the level terrain was very welcome. I left the valley up to Dorothy Lake where I stopped for food before cresting Dorothy Pass and leaving Yosemite NP. Once out of the park, the bugs were gone too. What's with that? After the pass, the trail descended past lakes and along a valley before a long ascent with little water. Much of the ascent was along an old roadbed and was the perfect grade for climbing. There was some snow near the top then the trail followed a ridge the views were spectacular but it was very windy. Eventually I found a place to camp sheltered from the cold wind.

Day 56. Camped at 1025.9 (15.2)
The wind howled a few feet above me all night making it difficult to sleep with all the noise. It was very windy for several miles. There was lots of snowfields to cross to, some sketchy but none scary. Despite the wind and snow, this was a beautiful section of trail. Worthwhile. Once at Sonora Pass I sent my bear can home with Sonora Pass Resupply, then hitched to Kennedy Meadows North where I had a box waiting. After resupplying, eating, and a beer, I hitched back to Sonora Pass and was back on trail at 4:15.
