Day 60. Camped near 1107.6 (16.9)
Before leaving South Lake Tahoe, I stopped at an optometrist and got the nose pieces on my glasses adjusted. Glasses are much more comfortable now. I also stopped at the post office and picked up my package. It had my smaller backpack. I sent the larger one (for bear can in Sierra) home. Got a few more bite valves for hydration hose too. Lots of walking for the errands. Got a hitch back to trail and was on trail about 12:45. Stopped at Echo Lake  for a Klondike Bar and Gatorade before setting off to Desolation Wilderness. Trail was very rocky and hard to make a decent pace. Stopped at Aloha Lake for a food break (noticed on Instagram that @chumley was here yesterday). I enjoyed seeing the area again. Made it over Dick's Pass and down to Dick's Lake where I camped very close to where I camped when hiking the TRT.

Day 61. Camped near 1137.9 (30.3)
Really enjoyed finishing the Desolation Wilderness and seeing it again though the skeeters were a pain in places. Stopped at Richardson Lake for a break. Stopped again at Barker Pass and enjoyed sitting at a table with some other hikers. I passed another of my TRT campsites, then climbed up into the Granite Chief Wilderness where I said goodbye to the TRT and continued north on the PCT. I went past the Alpine Meadows ski area then descended down and finally camped.

Day 62. Camped near 1155.8 (17.9)
Hiked about 15.5 miles to Donner Pass. I went by some of the Squaw Valley ski area then past Tinker's Knob. Very pretty views. It was real rocky the last mile or so to the pass. Enjoyed some trail magic at the pass before hitching into Truckee where I got a new pair of shoes, ate, and resupplied. Got a ride back to the pass, then went to the Donner Ski Ranch where I had a burget and complimentary beer for PCT hikers. Hiked about 2.4 more miles where I had a great view of the 4th of July fireworks over Donner Lake.

Never wrote a triplog from my PCT thru hike so here we go.
Left May 27th 2016 from Campo. Arrived in Canada September 28th. Amazing experience and my first thru-hike. Loved every second of it. Best sections were the Sierra (obviously), the North Cascades, Sisters Wilderness, Jefferson Wilderness and Thielsen wilderness in Oregon. The whole state of Washington was amazing. Northern California was a great section as well, only mention this because there were a ton of hikers that skipped quite a bit of NorCal that missed out. Trinity Alps were a flash back to the Sierra Nevada, Mount Lassen was beautiful, and everything near Shasta was great.
Missed an 80 mile section in SoCal due to the Big Bear Lake fire closure- there was no posted alternate. Might go back to reconnect my footsteps in the future.
Longest day was 44 miles in Washington due to rain. Took about 15 zeros that were all very much needed!

To start off the 4th weekend. Picked the right trail-picked the right footwear-picked the right ride to get to the trailhead. The rest of the day, priceless. Late and heavy snows here, still make for a difficult time at altitude. While only about 5% of the day involved dealing with too much snow , when it happens, the trail disappears. I continued on the Pacific Crest Trail in both directions until the snow turned me around. Also hit a creek that a crossing would have been wet for sure. There have been few others up here and as I was headed down, I ran into two horse groups bringing supplies up for the summer trail maintenance crews. They better get a move on - it will start snowing again in September. Temps felt air conditioned at 70 with a breeze.
