Day 73. Camped at 1448.6 (30.2)
Thunder, lightning, and rain last night. I almost cowboy camped, glad I didn't. A bit of a late start waiting for the storm to end. Really enjoyed seeing Burney Falls and taking the Burney Falls loop. Lots of forest today and lots of brushy, overgrown trail. It was warm too, especially in the open. Got to camp late. It was a dusty campsite but it had nice views. Last several miles my left shin was bothering me.

Day 74. Camped at 1477.4 (28.8)
Another late start today, mostly from finishing late yesterday. My leg felt fine this morning and I felt really good after I got going. It was hot today. Thankfully most of the afternoon was under the forest canopy. Not so much in the morning so I used my umbrella a lot. After about 21 miles my shin started bothering me again. I stopped at the McCloud River and rested for about an hour. Leg felt better after that but not for long. Another really buggy campsite.

Day 75. Into Dunsmuir, 1501.2 (23.8)
Another really hot day, most all under the forest canopy. My leg bothered me pretty much all day. More great views of Mt Shasta and also saw Castle Crags for the first time. Really incredible formation. Some trail magic at the end. Got watermelon. Also a man was there waiting to give a hiker a ride so I got a ride with him to Dunsmuir. He dropped me off at the brewery where I had dinner before walking to the Sand Caves Motel where I had a room reserved.

Never wrote a triplog from my PCT thru hike so here we go.
Left May 27th 2016 from Campo. Arrived in Canada September 28th. Amazing experience and my first thru-hike. Loved every second of it. Best sections were the Sierra (obviously), the North Cascades, Sisters Wilderness, Jefferson Wilderness and Thielsen wilderness in Oregon. The whole state of Washington was amazing. Northern California was a great section as well, only mention this because there were a ton of hikers that skipped quite a bit of NorCal that missed out. Trinity Alps were a flash back to the Sierra Nevada, Mount Lassen was beautiful, and everything near Shasta was great.
Missed an 80 mile section in SoCal due to the Big Bear Lake fire closure- there was no posted alternate. Might go back to reconnect my footsteps in the future.
Longest day was 44 miles in Washington due to rain. Took about 15 zeros that were all very much needed!

This trailhead like so many I have located on the Pacific Crest Trail is poorly marked and not easy to recognize. The trail is in decent shape and offers some nice remote backcountry hiking. Did this as a day hike out and back.
