I continued hiking in Utah this week by hitting up 2 more peaks today:
1) The Wasatch County Highpoint (elevation of 10840 feet), which is on the west slope of Murdock Mountain
2) Bald Mountain (elevation of 11,943 feet and prominence of 1,823 feet)

The trailheads for these 2 hikes are about 1/4 mile apart.

Wasatch County HP
I parked at a pullout on the road and hiked off-trail up a slope to the county line. It was a very foggy morning, so views were limited. It had rained overnight, so it was a wet off-trail hike. Much of the hike was rock and boulder hopping, so the going was slower than normal.

Bald Mountain
It was a windy hike up to Bald Mountain. It was still very foggy, so I did not get to enjoy the stellar views that this hike supposedly has. It is a very steep ascent -- over 1,200 feet of elevation gain in the 1.4 miles it takes to get to the summit. The trail was fairly rocky, and you went through a boulder field on part of the hike; fortunately the trail had been cleared through the talus.

Synopsis
The county highpoint was not a particularly exciting hike, and is not one that many people would do unless they are trying to tag the Utah county highpoints. I think that Bald Mountain would be a nice hike on a clear day -- the terrain is a bit rough, but the payoff with some awesome views would make the effort worthwhile. I wouldn't mind doing Bald Mountain again on a clear day.

Distance and elevation gain for these 2 hikes are below. Stats above are the sum of the 2.
Wasatch County HP: 1.70 miles with an AEG of 318 feet
Bald Mountain: 2.86 miles with an AEG of 1,235 feet

Wildflowers Observation Moderate
There were quite a few wildflowers on the hike to the Wasatch County HP, and there were a few along the trail up to Bald Mountain.

Took a nice sampling of several trails high in the Uinta Mountains. A few storms moved in and experienced some rain, snow and hail for a short time. There were a lot of people fishing the lakeshore and it was interesting seeing albino trout.
