Short and steep. Always a blast to get back to Briones. My left knee is a little grumpy after this one. Cold and breezy.

I saw one California poppy at the top right before it was eaten by a cow.

I had forgotten how this trail is a cardio assault. There were lots of birds out today, but the highlight was a pair of coyotes hunting for gophers. It was muggy today, and warm near the end, but a nice hike nevertheless.

I was thinking about doing a short, lazy hike but ended up with a pretty good workout. Those first 2 miles are rough. I don't know why I haven't hiked in Briones for a while, but I'll be back soon.

I spent 3 days stealth-packing through Briones park. I practice "leave no trace camping." You dont know Im there, you'll never know I was there, and you dont know if Im coming back. I dont recommend it because if you get caught, the fine is probably pretty hefty. Of course, I do alot of things that I dont recommend to others. :) This is an great park with great scenery. While scrambling up a runoff through the poison oak, I was examining this small cave and thousands of fleas came flying out literally covering my legs. Had to spent 30 minutes clearing them from legs, shoes, socks, etc. however I did manage to find a new route up to one of the peaks, so it was well worth it. I took this trip way back in August of 2010, but for some reason It wont let me post that date... ???
