To begin with I continued to follow the Log Corral wash until just about even with Red Mountain then started up a ravine. It didn't take long before the ravine was so clogged with thorny brush I had to climb out and follow the slope. Although steep, this turned out to be the way to go as it was a bit more open.
When I reached the summit I took a panorama video and some photos before taking time out for lunch. From the summit I could get a better sense of what will be the best route to a few of the peaks on my list, which will be put to use soon.
I took a different route down because I wanted to check out a wide wash running northward since I had planned on using it as my approach to Indian Peak. I followed the wash some distance before deciding I'd done enough recon for the day and headed back for my outbound drive through the rest of the boulders.
I'll be back soon for the other peaks, albeit taking a roundabout approach by vehicle to avoid the terrible boulders. |
