What an amazing way to start off my weeklong trip in Colorado! :y: We linked up with an experience canyoneer who was also here for the ACA Rendezvous and he talked us into waking up super early for a FULL run thru Oak Creek. :o The Ouray Canyoning book makes it seem like doing all three at once would be utter madness but it turned out to be quite doable and very enjoyable. : rambo : We weren't quite acclimated yet, so the 1600ft climb up to near 10k feet was a bit challenging but we eventually made it to the upper drop-in. Now I've done canyons with waterfall rappels before but this canyon was insane in the amount of them we'd be doing and all the wet & chossy downclimbing. :o The upper & middle sections had rappels most in the 40-80ft range but in the lower section we ran into the BIG boy of the day at 170ft. That BIG rap is notorious for coreshot issues and even with rope protection we still managed to get a corsehot from the first rappeler. Such an amazing canyon nonetheless and it was only going to get better as the day went by... :D
