| partners | | Fired up the CJ7, loaded it with a friend & took off down Frye Mesa road in the very early am.
Watched the sunrise as we geared up and headed down the trail to Mud Springs.
Awesome early morning views of Mt Graham to the left as we headed Northwest across the desert to the knoll.
Arrived within an hour, first checked out Mud Springs, then poked around the ranch ruins for a bit.
Climbed up to the top of the knoll for the valley views below before heading back the way we came.
Capped off the morning with coffee & blueberry muffins at Starbucks.

Kept my head down and eyes on the trail so as not to almost step on a great horned owl, because that would be ridiculous! (read Fricks triplog before heading out and couldn't get it out of my head) |

| no partners | | My 2nd predawn start in as many days on another newly discovered trail off Frye mesa road (FR 103). Today's adventure took me a couple of miles across open sonoran desert to Mud Springs Knoll and then down to an old ranch. Spent some time exploring the area which included corrals, mud springs tank, a windmill and many ranching artifacts. I then made a short trip up a mountain slope to Mud Springs (dry) before turning around and heading back. Was passed by about 15-20 motocross riders on the last half mile back. Overcast skies and a light wind kept the temps perfect all morning! Wildlife sightings today included 1 rattlesnake, 1 tarantula and a white-tail doe by the spring. |
