There were a few spots where we used a handline and partner-assists, but no rope or belay devices are needed. Some people find this an easy and fun slot canyon, others turn back at the first down-climb. Experience with friction-climbing would be helpful. And, this should be obvious, before you make any of the down-climbs make sure you have the ability to climb back up! While it is possible to hike to the end of Moonshine Wash and pop out on the main road, it would make for a very long hike with little-to-no shade.

I should also add that it was our intent to hike/scramble up the west fork of Moonshine Wash to make a loop, but we were immediately stopped by a very wet 25+ feet upclimb that, given the water, would have been impossible without a toprope. I don't personally know of anyone who's made the loop, but I've read that it's do-able.

Lastly, we saw tire tracks coming upstream to about the junction of the main branch and the west fork, so it could be possible to make this a one-way hike if a shuttle is set up in advance. However, not having hiked or driven the length of Moonshine, we don't know about the "road" conditions.
