| no partners | | I parked at the Horseshoe dam and headed down FR479. FR479(aka Chalk MNT road) is washed out right before the turnoff for the Sears/Davenport trailheads. The Davenport wash ate away about a 1,000 feet of the road. The ATV/4x4 people are now detouring in the Davenport wash around this section. I’m not sure how the FS is going to fix the road. It looks like they have to build it back up.
I headed down FR567 to the JS ranch. The ranch looks like it’s active as a cabin. The cabin has running water and electricity. Next I climbed Horse mountain.
I checked out some old jeep roads and followed one down Mullen wash and tried to get to the Verde. The wash ended is a sea of cockleburs . I was OK with them until they got as high as me and one got in my hair . That’s where I drew the line and headed back.
The weather was perfect. The overcast and cooler temp were great. |
