Thanks to Mauro, Marcia, and Francisco for joining me on this early morning hike/adventure. Congrats to Mauro and Marcia for doing their first official desert hike to a high point/summit.

We arrived at 6 am due to the incredible HEAT (high temp of 114 for Marana today!!) and parked at:

Mission Park Baptist Church
2101 W Ajo Way #5610, Tucson, AZ 85713

From the parking lot we did an open Country hike West around some private property and then headed toward a utility easement road which took us up to a high saddle. From the saddle we traveled a short distance to peak 2722 which took us only about 3 minutes. We drank some Brazilian coffee, had some strawberries and grapes and enjoyed a light breeze. After our rest, we continued back down to the saddle.

There I found a saguaro with some ripe fruit that I could reach and tried some which I thought was good. From here we hiked 100 feet down the road to Flight path trail, and continued West to the ridge high point. Then we needed to walk off-trail to get to Flight hill. There were some animal trails/use trails to follow and it was pretty easy overall. On the way back, we took the South branch of the flight path trail all the way around counter-clockwise and back to the utility road, then back down the road to our starting point.

On the Eastern end of the Flight Path trail we look down and saw a castle. I looked this up and found it as Mollohan Castle.

We took a few breaks and ended up finishing around 8.30 am. It was already starting to get HOT!!
